Mehmet Manisali studied dentistry at Bristol University and medicine at Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School (Imperial College London). He is a maxillofacial surgery consultant at St. George’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust specialising in facial deformity. He is also an honorary consultant at Moorfields Eye Hospital regularly carrying out joint clinics and operating with his ophthalmology colleagues. His main areas of interest are: facial aesthetic surgery, orthognathic surgery, orbital surgery, skin cancer and facial trauma. He is a member of the skin cancer multidisciplinary team at Croydon University Hospital. As a dedicated teacher he regularly runs courses in various aspects of facial surgery; including rhinoplasty, other facial aesthetic procedures and trauma. He has a busy International lecturing schedule and visits his native country Turkey regularly, carrying out outpatient clinics and operating sessions. Since 2017 he is also involved in the Facing the World Charity, collaborating with surgeons in Vietnam. He is the President of the Maxillofacial Surgery section of the Royal Society of Medicine. He also takes an active role in the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery as a member of the reconstruction and trauma sub-group.

Mr Manisali is engaged in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students. Together with Mr Jahrad Haq, he is the founder of Step by Step surgery courses.

This is an award given to the NHS staff on the basis of nominations by patients in recognition of care provided exceeding the normal duty of care for patients. Mr Manisali was the recipient of this award in 2013.
Mr Manisali was invited by the Australian and New Zealand Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons to visit Australia for a month as a visiting Professor in 2016. During his stay he gave more than forty lectures and contributed to three meetings.
Mr Manisali volunteers his skills as a surgical trainer and educator with UK Medical Charity, Facing The World. This involves hosting visiting fellows and taking part in surgical missions. He led the missions to Hanoi, Vietnam in October 2017, October 2018 and October 2019.
