Mr. Manisali was delighted to be invited to speak at the inaugural TEDxOrtakoy. The event was hosted virtually in Istanbul on Saturday, May 25th 2020, following the theme of “+1”.
For those unfamiliar with TEDx events, TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages.
The TEDx program helps communities, organisations and individuals produce TED-style events at the local level, sharing ideas around the world.
Mr. Manisali’s story inevitably was about why he chose his profession and what keeps him going. He felt it was important to share these with young people considering a career in surgery.
